Interesting research from a fellow blogger

Here is a link to an article on a Penguins blog i read, it basically tallies up all the players in the league and how many times they were one of the three stars of the game and then totals them up. He then goes on to give each star of the game ( 1st, 2nd, 3rd) a different point value and totals them up suggesting this is the way the leagues mvp should be decided. I thought his idea was very interesting and well researched.

Most boring time of the hockey year.

This is officially the most boring time of the year for hockey fans. All of the noteable free agents have been signed, and teams prospect camps have ended. There is absolutly nothing going on in the hockey world for about another month when NHL training camps start. Here in Pittsburgh we have been fortunate to have such long seasons the last two years so there has not been a long off season, unfortunatly we have also been cursed with a rediculously bad baseball team so there is nothing for the Pittsburgh sports fan to watch at this time of year.

The Steelers will start there pre-season schedule this Thursday so thats at least something to watch. Even though pre-season football is boring it is still better than watching the Pirates.

Steelers Training Camp.

Not much action going on in the NHL right now so i thought i would mix it up a little bit and make a gold prediction about the Steelers after watching them at trainging camp the other day.

Limas Sweed will have an amazing season, by week 5 nobody will be talking about the sure TD he dropped in the playoffs last year.

Have the Penguins Re-Signed Zigomanis?

There is a lot of speculation that the Penguins have reached a deal with Mike Zigonanis after dismissing him to sign craig adams earlier this summer. The reports say it is a one year deal worth $650,000.00. This signing makes perfect sense for the Penguins considering they will be short a center for the first 2 months of the season with Talbot recovering from shoulder surgery. It also never hurts to have a guy on your team that can win face offs in a big situation. The only thing i question is where do all these players fit. Here are a look at the line up expected going into camp.

Guerin - Crosby - Kunitz
Dupuis - Malkin - Feds
Cooke - Staal - Kennedy
Rupp - Zigs- Adams

Extras
Talbot, Godard, Jeffrey
- I would also expect Caputi, Tangreti, and Jeffrey to make a run at Dupuis spot in training camp.
