Penguins lose game 2, 4-3

This loss really hurt, and every forward on the Penguins roster other than Crosby should hang there head in shame. There is no excuse for Crosby having every goal by a forward in this series and 4 of the 5 total Penguins goals. I bet Sykora feels like an idiot for not signing the two year deal the Penguins were offering him, he tried to hold out for three years and more money now he will be lucky to get an offer of 1 year from any team in the league.

NOTE TO THE THIRD LINE:
I have praised your play all post season for your great puck possession, but i am not sure if anybody told you but eventually you have to put the puck in the net or at least on the net. No points are awarded to the team who maintains the longest cycle or makes the most passes. In the flyers series everybody raved about this line and there puck possession but Kennedy was also putting pucks in the net that series.

NOTE TO DAN BYLSMA:
You need to make some sort of change, you can't watch your entire offense with the exeption of one man struggle through two entire games and not make some sort of line change. How about just for a couple of shifts playing Malkin and Crosby together, or possible giving Kennedy a couple of shifts with Malkin in place of Sykora. I know you just got a new contract but your job is to manage the game, not just sit there and wait to answer questions Mike Tomlin style in the post game interviews (no knock on Tomlin's coaching, its just neither of them show any emotion or actually answer a question in there post game interviews.)

All this being said it is not time to jump off the band wagon yet, both games were very evenly played and could have went either way. I know being down 2 games to none seems like a huge hole but all the Capitals have done so far is hold serve. If the Penguins lose in Pittsburgh then it will be time to jump off the band wagon.

ONE MORE COMMENT:
As much as i hate Ovechkin it was pretty entertaining to watch him and Crosby go goal for goal last night and truly prove they are the best two players in the world. I don't know if i have ever seen a player on both teams score a hat trick in the playoffs in the same game (has anybody else?). This game had to be exactly what the NHL wanted it to be.

  1. It's amazing that this team looks so inept other than Crosby...utterly baffling.

As for the double hat tricks, the Washington Post has your answer:

"The dueling hat tricks marked only the second time in franchise playoff history that two players scored three goals in the same game. The other time was April 26, 1993, when Al Iafrate and the New York Islanders' Ray Ferraro -- who scored four -- accomplished the feat. Iafrate's performance was also the Capitals' last postseason hat trick."

although it only says 'franchise', so maybe that doesn't fully answer your question.

  2. Its over...Fleury is getting outplayed by a 21 year old with less tahn 15 games of total experience...Malkin cant step up in the big stage...Staal is back to his old no show self and the rest of the wingers are doing terrible...

Bottom line is we are playing soft and the Fleury is not stepping up....If Fleury was playing good then I would say we got a chance but the fact is that Fleury is playing average....

    Like I said, its over

  3. While I don’t share the negative outcome as the previous comment, I can’t disagree with any thing that was said. Besides the hitting frenzy to start the game, the Pens looked soft. Besides Crosby, this team just doesn’t have the intensity required to win in the playoffs. They are really missing guys like Malone, Hossa and Rutu and it shows. Their replacements have been subpar to say the least. Once again, Besides Crosby, there is zero net pressure.

That being said, I feel that the Pens have out played the Caps in both games and can STILL win the series. Fleury can still steal a game or two and Crosby can rein this team. His intensity and focus is contagious! Look for the Pens to play with desperation lead by their Captain and hopefully Bylsma will earn his paycheck and shake-up the lines.

  4. I wouldn't say this series is over yet. As i stated above the Capitals have done what they were suppose to and won there 2 home games. If the Penguins do the same your talking about a best two out of three series starting in Washington. If the Penguins lose one of these 2 home games i will be ready to say there done. But lets be patient and see how they do tonight and Friday before we pass judgement.

  5. I hate to crush the dreams of you pathetic Yinzer Penguin fans, but the Stanley Cup is coming home to Washington! Your underachieving team is just another stepping stone on our path to immortality! Not only do our players deserve the championship more because they play harder, but the fans here in Seattle have much more class and intelligence than you morons in Pittsburgh. You probably don't even understand why Ovechkin is superior to your overrated Crosby, who just sits infront of the net and shoots. Keep typing your blogs and posting your boring comments, but no one will care when we bring Lord Stanley back to the west coast and hoist it high upon the space needle for the world to see! Stick that in your pierogi and eat it!!!

  6. Yea your team certainly looked superior last night while they were being doubled up in shots and rarely had possesion of the puck. And to address your comments about Crosby i would take the complete player that Crosby is over your one trick pony anyday. If Ovechkin ever passed or played defense i may think differently, but he doesn't.
